A Gorgeous Winter Wedding at The Cliff House
In Picturesque Cape Neddick, Maine.
Well friends, as we eagerly await spring, I am so excited to pump the breaks and let you simmer in the idea of a winter wedding. Every inch of this day was completely stunning and so well thought out- and as we are heading into their one year anniversary, I am SO incredibly thrilled to go back and share all these portraits with you. When I first met with Bridget and Matt and we talked through the game plan and what they were hoping for their day I was equal parts nervous and excited. 12 hours, the most gorgeous cliff side venue in literally all of Maine, and January. January, January, January. It could be 50 degrees and sunny, it could be 2 degrees and a blizzard. Regardless, I have never instantly loved a couple so much and instantly been like YES LET’S GO. The Cliff House is an expansive space. I wish I took a screen shot of the steps I walked that day, because it was definitely near 20k. And although the temperature read in the mid 30’s, holy moly the WIND. When you are literally on the ocean the wind is to be expected, but man- did it slice through us that day.
From the gorgeous ceremony space overlooking the Atlantic, to the ballroom full of gorgeous twinkling lights, the Cliff House is such a perfect backdrop for a winter wedding day. The whole space screams cozy yet elegant, and the couple alongside their wedding planner Amy Wentlzell, curated the most gorgeous scene using a classic black and white color palate. From the velvet bows on each menu, to the beautiful white florals in Bridgets bouquet, throughout her detail portraits, and everywhere you looked in the ballroom. I could have taken a zillion photographs of the beauty of it all- and I did! HA. The whole day was so elevated, every detail curated to such perfection. And we truly used every inch of their space. From the gorgeous cliffs, to the dramatic hallways filled with light, we planned to have time to move around- and having that time was so helpful and made their day just so smooth and relaxed. In one of our final meetings before the wedding Bridget told me that no matter WHAT, we were going on the damn rocks- ha. So as I brought every layer of clothing I owned, and found a door that I could run everyone back inside for warm up breaks, we gripped it and ripped it and froze- but man oh man, the blue of the icy cold ocean, the wind swept hair- the couple holding on to each other for dear life- these portraits are truly so beautiful. They rolled with it, we eventually got warm, and as the party roared into the night, we forgot about the icy cold air. This was the best kick off to any wedding season and I am thrilllllllled to share these moments with you all. Take a peek at this dream team of vendors, and this perfect January Cliff House wedding day.
